Bernd & Nicole KrebesTile design and installation Contractors
History: Bernd did a 3-years apprenticeship as a tile setter in Germany back in 1980 and afterwards also took on the trade of masonary stove builder. He had his own business for tile and stove installation overseas for over 10 years until they moved to Nova Scotia in February 2002. Nicole, his wife since 1997, is a trained office clerk, his partner on the jobsite and also runs the office. They have a big 100 lb. Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Charly and a hairy cat named Jack, the mouse ripper. In 2000 they bought a 100 year old house by the river in downtown Bridgewater and totally renovated it with an European touch and turned the upstairs into a B&B. They also use their house as a showcase of their work. The one nice thing about bernd's ceramic tile is you will always get the same friendly crew. Bernd is the tile setter, a perfectionist who is very meticulous about the work he does. His wife Nicole does most of the cutting and mixing. Together they create remarkable one of a kind work and are not happy with their work until you are happy. Bernd and Nicole specialize in custom made showers where they only use Schlueter Kerdi system for waterproofing. Many of their previous customers/clients have given them the go-ahead to design the work themselves, and have only recieved positive feedback. By visiting all important international trade shows and attending seminars, they can guarantee to be up to date on the newest materials. It doesn't pay to cut corners on materials. That's why they only use high quality mortar and grout made in Germany by Kiesel (www.Kiesel.com). The grout is a stain-resistant material which has a sealer in it. In 2008 Habitat for Humanity built their first house in Bridgewater. Of course, Bernd's Ceramic Tile was part of it. Bernd and Nicole donated their time and material for that good cause. Even twice they were nominated for the Lunenburg County Business Excellence Award and became one of the three finalist nominees both times.
